Drawing Competition for students
The 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that takes place between the 25th November, which marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, which is the Human Rights Day. The global theme chosen for this year is “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!” As part of this campaign, the Commission for Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence is in full swing with the preparation of a number of activities that will take place during these 16 days.
The Commission would like to raise awareness on the subject of gender-based violence and domestic violence among students of all ages. As part of the activities, the Commission is inviting students to take part in a drawing competition about the topic of ’gender-based violence and domestic violence’. The Commission is aware that this is quite a heavy subject especially for students in primary schools, and therefore encourages teachers to discuss this topic with their students when introducing the competition. The Commission would like to make this a positive experience and would like to see drawings that reflect how children perceive healthy and happy families. As a Commission, we have chosen 2 themes for the primary schools which are: “Qatt m’inti waħdek” and “Ngħinu lil xulxin”, while for the secondary schools the theme is “Mhux kull dar tagħti kenn”.
The competition:
The competition will have two categories; students from both primary and secondary schools. Students can submit their drawings from the 25th November 2020 until the 31st January 2021. The Commission will review all submissions and the finalists will be notified through their respective schools.
