Figolla Challenge
Figolla Challenge
“It all started in the scholastic year 2011/2012 when a group of motivated teachers, LSE’s and school management team ventured on this charitable journey of the Figolla Challenge. The aim of this challenge was to enhance solidarity in our students and helping out NGOs mainly those that help people, especially children, during difficult times in their lives. We donated money to Malta Community Chest Fund, Malta Hospice Movement and to Puttinu Cares.
The first challenge was a 3m by 3m figolla in the form of a lamb which was baked and decorated by Golden Harvest and then was sold in pieces at The Point Shopping Mall.” – Ms. N.Camilleri

The figolli are given for a fixed donation. Each year we try to increase the number of figolli sold and hence increase the amount of money collected. The amount of money collected is indicative of the hard work of our students.
Over the years we donated over 45,000 Euro.
We donated money to Malta Community Chest Fund, Malta Hospice Movement and to Puttinu Cares. For the past 6 years we donated the funds collected to Puttinu Cares.

The money is also collected from:-
Family and friends filling out a sponsor sheet form provided by the school.
Organized adventurous activities such as abseiling with the help of the AFM at school.
Organized educational talks for parents and relatives at our school followed by a high tea.
Sponsors donate gifts and vouchers to give away in lotteries.
“Lately our main sponsor is Neriku Cateres. They bake figolli for us and sell them to us for a very reasonable price.
3 weeks before Easter some of our students go to Neriku factory and decorate some of the Figolli.
A week before Easter some of our students and staff go to Valletta and give away the Figolli against a donation to people in the street, in shops and offices.
The Ministry For The Family, Children’s Rights And Social Solidarity, Palazzo Ferreria, Republic Street Valletta, generously hosts us in the main entrance where we set our stall.” – Ms. N. Camilleri
